University College Isle of Man needs to offer lifelong education and learning, providing courses on the internet and encouraging partnerships with other universities. It is vital UCIOM offers courses that will prepare students to be qualified for jobs that benefit themselves and the Island. Not every student is suited to university, apprenticeships and vocational training need to be placed higher up the agenda. Careers advice should include different types of work experience to enable students to select what they wish to do and enable them to make an informed decision in their future career.
At the other end of the scale I believe the government should offer more support for pre-school nursery education to get all children off to the very best start in life. If people choose to home educate their children then they should be able to do so with the minimum of red tape and interference.
