Spending

Pensions

This administration has addressed the public sector pensions black hole which has been reduced. By paying more in at the beginning and getting less out at the end of the pension the crisis has been averted but will need to be kept under review.

Travel

The purchase of the IOM Steam Packet clearly paid dividends during Covid as our service continued. The Liverpool dock should be progressed as soon as possible.

Air

The open skies policy is not working well and an investigation should be conducted as to how we proceed.

Tourism

We must capitalise on our natural resources with our Moorland, Glens and beaches. Offering our unique experience of open countryside with vintage transport, heritage and Dark Skys Astronomy. I was pleased to be able to work closely with MMD to restore the Groudle Glen water wheel to its former glory. The Laxey Wheel has been sadly neglected and urgently needs to be brought up to standard and properly maintained. The Laxey Valley should be a world class UNESCO heritage site.

Foreign Aid

I welcome our international contribution but we must keep it in proportion and not forget we have homeless and people using the food bank.
